ABOUT La Miquela
S.I. La Miquela de Bescanó is a state school of the Education Department of Generalitat de Catalunya, founded in 2010.​
We can modestly boast to have developed an Educative Project, thought and created for:

- Firstly, promoting the trilingualism
- Secondly, promoting high-qualified education with an European dimension among our students, taking part in partnerships.
- Thirdly, encouraging the diversity of capacities and motivations, not only for achieving the basic competences but also the excellence.

A highly-qualified state and experimental school, eager of innovation and continuous improvement, integrated in the village and its surroundings, open to everybody and being taken as a reference in all Girona area.

OUR PROJECTS
All our students own a laptop which lets them enjoy both the traditional book and digital resources. Moreover, this allows them to work on all subjects using Information Communications Technology (ICT) tools. Since September, 2013 our students from 1st grade of ESO use I-pads instead of laptops.
OUR HISTORY

​The Project PILE (Pla Integrat de Llengües Estrangeres) has the goal of learning English following a CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) approach. This approach involves learning subjects such as history on the 3rd grade of ESO and history and Natural Science on the 4th grade of ESO in English as a vehicular language.

PARTNERSHIPS
Our students are involved in three partnerships: a multilateral one- Let's Create!- with Czech Republic, Turkey Republic and Poland; a multilateral one -Building Bridges through Art- with the Netherlands, France, Portugal and Cyprus; finally, a bilateral one -Food here and there, now and then- with Germany in the framework of Comenius project.
In 2011/2013 we took part in a bilateral Comenius partnership - Leg@mi di Parole- with the Italian region of Abruzzo.
Secció d'Institut La Miquela is a general secondary school in Bescanó (Spain), a town located in a rural area within the district of El Gironès, in the area of Girona, in the north-east of Spain. The town is developing a modern and dynamic industrial and service economy. Most of the town citizens work in the nearby city of Girona, capital city of the area.
Our highschool is a brand new school which started in 2010-2011. At the moment we are 120 students, who are studying 1st, 2nd, 3rd and the 4rd year of ESO, and 21 teachers. Most of our students have high marks in Key Competences.

The main goal of our highschool is that by the end of 4th ESO (end of Compulsory Secondary Education), our students have a high level of Competence in Catalan, Spanish as well as in English plus A1/A2 level in German.
In order to achieve this goal, the teachers have committed themselves to put the Content and Language Integrated Learning Methodology (CLIL) into practice. In the 1st and 2nd of ESO, students are doing a 3-hour elective subject on Natural and Social Science in English. Our scholar curriculum for 3rd of ESO involves not only the English Language subject but also Social Science and Economy in English. And finally, in the 4th of ESO Social Science and Natural Science will be taught in English as well.
This language project means that our students at the last stage of Secondary Education will be studying nine hours of English on a weekly basis, giving them those 6 extra hours compare to the other secondary schools in the area.
The results of our project are highly motivated students with a better knowledge of written and oral fluency in English.
